Describe your experience covering the catastrophe in Washington, IL?

“The scene in Washington, IL, was like nothing I had ever seen before. Although, I have only been shooting news for two and half years, that tornado damage was the worst scene I have ever had to cover.”

You were in attendance for the Bears v Ravens game in Chicago. How would you rate the evacuation process and where exactly did they escort you?

“My first Solider Filed experience certainly was an interesting one. We knew going into the game there were good chances of a delay we just weren’t sure when they would do it. I give Solider Field staff credit by going about it the correct way. Instead of delaying kickoff (noon), they played seven minutes or so until they instructed fans to head to the main concourse. This was a smart move because instead of having fans scattered in the parking lot, they were able to keep everyone as safe as possible in the stadium.”

If you were the Chicago Bulls GM, in which direction do you take the team with DRose out for the season?

“I’ll try and keep this short. In a perfect world, you trade Deng for whatever you can get, and try and work your way up the draft board. Smart, Wiggins, Randle, and of course Chicago’s own (sound familiar?), Jabari Parker are all future NBA studs. But as the fantasy Bulls GM that I am, I am also keeping a close eye on the Bulls draft pick from 2011 and 6′ 10” 210 lbs Spainish League MVP, Nikola Mirotic. Check him out if you haven’t.”

Favorite new band you’ve stumbled upon?

“I don’t know if the band, “Foals”, count as a new stumble, but they are certainly up there. IMO, nothing beats a band that can cover genres: Rock, Jam, and Dance. And as far as Hip-Hop goes, Chicago’s own, Chance the Rapper, is the future.”

Favorite holiday movie and why?

“Sorry, but it’s a three way tie from three different decades. Christmas Vacation (’89), Home Alone (’90), and Elf (’03). Uncle Eddy, Moving MJ poster, and, “SAAAAAAAAAANTA!!!!!!”

You’ve filmed your first wedding this summer, what was the most difficult aspect and do you have any tips for first timers?

“I’m not trying to make excuses, but shooting video for a wedding by yourself is tough. I made the best of it and it turned out fine, but I highly suggest having a team. It’s impossible for one person to be documenting what both sides of the Wedding party are doing at the same time.”

How close is too close when approaching a scene?

“It depends a lot on what the story is. If it’s a fire or shooting, I always usually find the best spot on the sidewalk to set up and shoot. As long as you are not on the actual scene, you are legally allowed to be there. Too close is walking on the front yard of the scene while the investigation or fire or whatever is going on. Now, if someone is leaving a courtroom after being sentenced to years of prison for a crime and your station is relying on you to get a good shot, you follow that subject as close as possible. I hope the public views this different than paparazzi.”
