Franks Diner – Kenosha, WI

Story by WGN Photojournalist Kevin Doellman

KENOSHA, Wisc. — Franks Diner in downtown Kenosha opened in 1926 and holds a special place in the hearts of many.  “Franks Diner is the longest continuously running diner in the world,” co-owner Kevin Ervin told me.  “The place has been running steadily since 1926.”  The long and narrow lunch car seats 55 people in total and was originally purchased by founder Anthony Franks for $7,500.  After it was delivered from New Jersey by train, six horses pulled the railcar to the spot where it stands today.  The biggest seller at Franks is the Garbage Plate, which consists of three to five eggs mixed with hash browns, green peppers, onions, and your choice of meats and cheeses.
